About
Jennifer Pernia is a Colombian singer, actress, and podcaster. While living in Colombia she completed a BFA in Vocal Performance. After being a part of the Colombian production of Sweeney Todd, she discovered she wanted to know more about this art form; where drama, comedy, and people stuffed in meat pies coexisted. She later moved to NYC and is a graduate of the New York Film Academy Musical Theater Conservatory.
Jennifer is very passionate about supporting the Latino community. Since she moved to the U.S, she noticed the negative stereotypes and unauthentic stories that were being portrayed about the Latinx community. Frustrated by the lack of Latinx visibility in the arts, and thinking about ways to help create change, she decided to start The Bold Type, a podcast that features Latinos making an impact in different areas of the arts.
She is currently based in Miami and NYC.
